A successful life sciences oil-free compressed air project.

A leading provider of real estate solutions to the life science and technology industries, operating high quality life science real estate in leading innovation markets throughout the United States and United Kingdom, chose Comairco to upgrade a failing compressed air system at one of their properties.

Our service coordinator phoned the customer to make a routine call to schedule a site visit to finalize planning for an upcoming installation on new compressed air equipment.  During this conversation, the customer advised that he had a problem with his compressed air equipment that required immediate attention.  Our service coordinator quickly dispatched an experienced technician and resolved the service issue the same day.

During this visit the client expressed the need to review some of its oil-free equipment.

The customer was looking to upgrade their unreliable, dated and loud reciprocating oil-free system as well as increase their air quality from ISO 8573 1.5.0 to ISO 8573 1.2.0 (40°F to -40°Fdew point decrease).  The customer required redundancy but due to pump failures lost that feature.  Comairco supplied (2) Sullair SRL 22s that are whisper quiet (as low as 48dBA) and have multiple oil-free scrolls for added redundancy.  The refrigeration dryers and associated filters were replaced with a pair of Sullair DHL 100 dryers with filters and dew point demand function for added efficiency.

With a weekend shutdown the only option for this installation to take place, Comairco’s service team worked hard from Friday night until Sunday to remove and dispose of the old system and place, plumb and start the new clean oil-free air system.

Comairco fully understands the complexity of stopping production and made sure to take all necessary measures into consideration.  Thorough planning by our professional service organization completed the installation on time that met the customer expectations and on budget.  In the event that a longer installation would have been required, oil-free rental equipment could have been offered to the customer so as not to stop the company’s production.

Comairco’s customer was quite happy with how this installation went and has requested more upgrades of other systems from us.
